<br />Overall, increasing pond sizes will be a valuable strategy for enhancing water quality and creating a <br />healthier park environment. This will also be an opportunity for environmental education within the <br />community, with the plan to add educational interpretive signage. <br /> <br />This project was identified in the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and due to the cost, staff began to <br />explore alternative funding sources. <br /> <br />With the many improvements identified above, staff met with Ramsey-Washington Metro <br />Watershed District (RWMWD) to discuss the project and see if there were any opportunities for a <br />partnership. Following that meeting, staff submitted a competitive application for the RWMWD <br />Stewardship Grant program in March 2025. The Stewardship Grant program has a maximum award <br />of $100,000. <br /> <br />City staff were notified on May 8, 2025, that the grant application has been approved. <br /> <br />Project Construction is anticipated to begin in May 2025 and be substantial completed this year, <br />which is well ahead of the 2026 grant agreement deadline. <br /> <br />BUDGET IMPACT: <br />This project was approved as part of the 2025 Street Improvement project and construction will <br />begin in May 2025.
