STAFF REPORT TO: Mayor Fischer and Members of City Council FROM: Laura Linehan, Acting City Administrator DATE: May 14, 2025 RE: Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office Update and Flock Safety Cameras Budget Addendum ACTIONS TO BE CONSIDERED: For information and discussion purposes only. Undersheriff Jeff Ramacher will be providing information on a number of areas, including reviewing proposed Flock Safety Cameras and the corresponding budget addendum for the City of Little Canada. BACKGROUND: As part of the draft 2025 Strategic Plan, Creating Supportive Networks, an action item for Year 1 is to “schedule regular workshop meetings between the City Council and Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office.” Therefore, staff reached out to Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office to schedule a workshop, to begin work on the action item. Staff requested the following topics be reviewed: • General updates • Outreach/Community Engagement • Flock Safety Cameras and Budget Addendum • Juvenile numbers Flock Safety Cameras and Budget Addendum Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office is requesting a budget addendum for the 2025 Contract Communities budget for Flock Safety Cameras. Attached as Attachment A is a memo from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office regarding Flock Safety Cameras and the corresponding cost for 2025 through 2030. For 2025, the proposed unbudgeted amount would be $4,856.40. Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office has asked for City Council review and approval of the unbudgeted amount from all contract cities. Should staff receive direction to proceed, the final approval will be drafted for consideration at the May 28 City Council meeting. RECOMMENDATION: For information and discussion purposes only.
