Council Member LaValle had to <br />leave tl~e meeting during the recess. <br />COMMISSION The Councii reviewed sta{~E's report regarding commission actendance <br />ATTENDANCE policies and/or ordinances of surroundin~ cities. F2hey indicated that <br />ORDINANCG he favored ldoption of ~n ordinance similar to thlt of Vadnais Heights. <br />The V~dnlis Heights ordin~nce decl<ues thlt commissioi~ members who <br />miss tlv~ee consecutive meetings or fow~ meetings in a calendar year will <br />be considered to have coi~strucCively resigned f'roin Che commission. <br />Fahey a(so felt that the Council should mal<e a decision on this issue this <br />evening. <br />Scalze pointed out the policy of the P1lnning Commission to declare <br />absences to be excused if the member c111s in with a reason for not being <br />able to lttend the meetin~. It was the consensus oPthe Council tliat a <br />missed meeting is an absence and there will be no distinction between an <br />excused absence 1nd just 1n absence. <br />Councii discussed the timing for when Che attendance ordina~~ce would go <br />into effect. lt w~s the consensus of the Council Yhat the attendance <br />requirement would ~o inYO effecY ret~roactive to January I, ~(997.
