MINUTES OT THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CiTY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />AUGUST 13, 199'7 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City <br />Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 13`~' day of August, <br />1997 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little <br />Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael I. Fahey called the meeting to order at 5:00 P.M. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br /> CITY COLTNCIL: Mayor Mr. Michael I. Fahey <br /> Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br /> Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br /> Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br /> ABSENT: Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br /> ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Hanson <br /> Ehlers & Assoc. Mr. Rusty Fifield <br /> Hoisington Koegler Mr. Michael Schroeder <br /> Laurent Parks Mr. Chris Moarn <br /> Planning Comm. Mr. Gene DeLonais <br /> Admin. Assistant Mrs. Kathy Glanzer <br />RICE STREET/ Mr. Chris Moarn, Laurent Parks, appeared at the workshop and began <br />LITTLE CANADA by presenting slides showing architectural aspects of development in <br />ROAD Kohler, Wisconsin as well as along 50`~' and France Avenue. Moarn <br />REDEVELOP- pointed out the use of rounded bays, changes in rooflines, landscaping, <br />MENT etc. in each of these areas. Moarn pointed out the use of landscaping <br />PROJECT and decorative lighting enhance the appearance ofthe parking ramp near <br /> the Edina theatre. <br />Moarn informed the Council that he is working with Cinemark on a <br />proposal for a l7-screen theatre in the Rice Street/Little Canada Road <br />area. Movie theatres generate the need for a lot of parking, and in order to <br />make this proposal feasible, a parkin~; ramp will be needed. Movie <br />theatres also attract restaurant and retail development which require <br />parkin~ as well. Moarn felt these types of uses fit well together, and <br />amenities such as lighting, pavement, benches, etc. can be used so that the <br />uses complement one another. <br />
