MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 8, 1997 <br />Administrator reported that the only one he is proposed to recommend at <br />this time would be the debt levy buy-down. The issue of street lighting as <br />listed in the memo will continue to be pursued. The Administrator also <br />pointed out the possibility for a decrease in the Fire Department's <br />Workers' Compensation insurance premiums. <br />The Administrator felt that a zero net levy increase was a very attainable <br />goal. The Administrator also felt that once the debt levy is eliminated, the <br />City will have many options to consider, one of which is how far it would <br />like to drop in the ranking comparing various cities tax rates. <br />The Administrator su~;~;ested that he continue to research various ways to <br />reduce the 1998 net levy and that options be presented to the Council at its <br />next workshop. The Capital Improvement Budget will be presented for <br />Council consideration at the next workshop as well. <br />The Administrator pointed out that the City's Truth In Taxation Hearing is <br />scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, 1997. <br />It was the consensus of the Council to continue the 1998 Budget workshop <br />until Wednesday, November 12, 1997 at 6 P.M. <br />There bein~ no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:05 P.M. <br />~ <br />~ ~' ~ ,' ~ <br />Mich el I.
