MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 28, 1998
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Morelan, Fahey, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
COUNTY'S Council reviewed the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department's request
REQUEST for antenna space on the City's water tower for their dispatch service.
FOR SPACE Scalze asked if this would impact the agreement the City currently has
ON CITY with AT & T. The Administrator replied that the City's agreement with
WATER TOWER AT & T required that they be notified of any additional installations and
~ives them approval authority from a non-interference standpoint.
Fahey asked why they want to place this equipment in Little Canada.
Morelan noted that Little Canada is on the eastern edge of their dispatch
area.
The Administrator replied that he did not know if the Sheriff's Department
had approached other cities with this request. The Administrator pointed
out that the installation may impact the City's ability to lease tower space
to other uses and noted that this is valuable space to the City. He further
noted that Ramsey County Emer~ency Services already has space on the
City's water tower.
Fahey felt the County should pay the same fees that private enterprise
would pay to lease tower space. Fahey noted that the City is already
providing free space to Emer~ency Services, and suggested that this sort
of service be spread out among other cities.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RE.SOI. UTION NO. 98-1-23 - AUTHORIZING THE CITY
ADMINISTR,9TOR TO APPROACH THE RAMSEY COUNTY
SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AGREEING TO I.EASE APPROPRIATE
TRANSMITTER AND ANTENNA SPACE ON THE WATER TOWER
AT A LEASE R,9TE SIMILAR TO WHAT OTHER TOWER USERS
ARE PAYING
The foregoin~ resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Fahey, LaValle, Pedersen, Morelan, Scalze.
Nays (0).
