Res~lution tleclxred adopted. 2600 RICE Fahey commented thlt ~iven the asl<ing price for the property located STR~~T at 2600 Rice Street is higher than the City is prepared to pay, there is no ~ction required by the Council on tl~is matter af this time. However, should the theater project become a reality, the City's position on this m~tt~er co~ild chan~e. Morelan t~greed that given the City did not hlve 1 clear enough plan for 2600 Rice Sh'eet at~ fhis time, Yhe asl<ing price for the pro~erCy is too high. Charlie Dral<e, one of the owners oP2600 Rice Street, asl<ed if they could proceed witl~ fheir plans for renovation o'f the siCe. Fahey replied that there was nothing to preciude the owners from movin~ ahead. Dral<e reporfed tl~~t he has verbal commit~ments from Harold's Shoes and the b~rbershop to relocate to this site. Fahey conunented thtu the City may be willing t'o worl: with Che property owners on relocat'ion of existin~ CiCy businesses i1'the CiCy's help would prove beneticial. 1999 Council reviewed the City Atlministrat'oi's re~ort d~tCed September 4th IMPROV~M~NT listii~g ~~ossible street reconstruction projects for 1999. The ~ldministrator PROJ~C7'S recommeiitletl that the C'ity Cn~ineer be ~~ithorized to ~roceed with feasibility reporfs for these projects.
