MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 28, 1998
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
PERSONNEL Mayor Fahey directed the City Attorney to confirm the validity of
POLTCY the Personnel Policy chan~es which have been recommended by
CHANGES City staff. This matter will be placed on the agenda for the November 10`~'
Council meeting for action.
RENAMING Council reviewed the recommendation of City staff that County Road
OF B-2, lyin~ between Edgerton Street and Arcade Street, not be renamed
COUNTY given that the majority of residents responding to the City's survey were
ROAD B-2 not in favor of renaming the street.
Morelan sug~ested that it would be better to rename the street from the
standpoint of improvin~ emergency vehicle access since there are two
sections of County Road B-2 separated by the freeway. This provides the
potential for confusion in responding to a call at a County Road B-2
address.
Council discussed this matter, and it was their consensus that those
property owners which did not respond to the survey should be resurveyed
to determine their position on the issue. Once those results are in, the
Council will readdress the issue.
RICE STREET/ The City Administrator reported that Chris Moarn will be meetin~ with
LITTLE CANADA City staf'Fon a potential development ofthe Rice Street/Little Canada
ROAD Road property lying north ofLittle Canada Road. The Administrator
REDEVELOP- also indicated that there is another party looking at the site south of
MENT Little Canada Road. This party is considering developing a theater which
would then be leased by Cinemark.
Morelan suggested that the City Administrator contact other theater people
to determine if there is any interest. The Administrator replied that he had
contacted the larger theater groups, but could go further into the list.
The Administrator was directed to actively pursue other theater
companies.
11
