MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />Overview <br />Composed of five elected officials, the City Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month <br />to consider the adoption of legislative and administrative measures to provide services to citizens. They also <br />meet monthly in workshops for an in-depth discussion of other potential actions to be taken. <br /> <br />Service Areas <br /> Debate and adopt local ordinances and policies <br /> Governance <br /> <br />2024/2025 Departmental Accomplishments <br /> Approved new five-year strategic plan (2025-2030) <br /> Successfully hired a new City Administrator through a competitive recruitment process <br /> Participated in the legislative session through thoughtful discussions for letters of support for various <br />bills and legislative actions <br /> <br />2026 Departmental Goals <br /> Continue to utilize the 5-Year Strategic Plan as a guide for future Council decisions <br /> Enhance strategic partnerships with existing and other organizations that advance the goals and <br />strategic initiatives of the City of Little Canada <br /> <br />Budgetary Commentary <br />The 3.98% net increase in this budget relates to anticipated increases in contractual services and an increase in <br />personnel services. Personnel services included a COLA of 3.2% adjustment for City Clerk allocation to this <br />department. The LMC Conference will be held in Rochester in 2026. Memberships in this budget includes the <br />League of MN Cities ($12,000), Association of Metropolitan Cities-Metro Cities ($4,500), Ramsey County League <br />of Local Governments, ($600), the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce ($500), and the Municipal Mayors <br />Association ($50). Contractual service includes the Tobacco & Cannabis compliance services ($500) and Meeting <br />Minutes ($5,000). Currently, $300 of the tobacco compliance services are reimbursed by the State of Minnesota <br />as a grant.
