MINUTUS

CITY COUNCIL

JANUARY 27, 2010
Pat Paulus, 2990 Ontario Road, asked about the correction of street
damage done last year on Thunder Bay Road by the contractor. The City
Engineer indicated that the conhactor will correct this damage as part of
last year's project.
The City Administrator reported that if the project is ordered this evening,
the City will go out for bids. If the bids received are too high, the City can
reject them and the project will not move forward.
Paulus noted that there are other streets in the City in worse shape.
Blesener agreed and noted that Edgerton Street and Little Canada Road
are in poor condition, but these are County roads.
There was no one else present wishing to comment on this improvement.
Upon motion by McGraw, seconded by Boss, the public hearing was
closed.
Mr. McGraw inh~oduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2010-I -22 -ORDERING IMPROVEMENT NO.
2010-OS & 09 AND PREPARATION OF PLANS FOR ALLEN
AVENUE (PAYNEAVENUE TO GREENBRIER) AND VALENTO
LANE (NORTH OFALLEN)
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
SYLVAN STRUET Mayor Blesener opened the public hearing to consider the improvement of
Sylvan Street (north of County Road C) by mill and overlay of bituminous
surface as well as concrete curb and gutter repair and/or replacement.
The City Engineer explained the existing condition of Sylvan Street which
has rutting as well as some utility trench settlement, edge cracking, and
areas of alligator cracking. He then reviewed the proposed improvements
which are for amill/removal of pavement and repaving from Little Canada
Road to the north. The crown of the street will be re-established to ensure
drainage into the curb line. Once the pavement is removed, the subgrade
will be test rolled prior to repaving and any soft areas corrected. `hhe
Engineer noted that there will be some concrete curb and gutter
repair/replacement. The Engineer noted that sealcoating and crack sealing
of the street was reviewed. However, due to the streets current condition,
staff is recommending a higher level of maintenance (mill and repave) to
3
