Hanson <br /> www. ci.little-Canada. mn. us <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of the City Council <br /> FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator <br /> DATE: February 5, 2010 <br /> RE: Alcohol & Tobacco Fine Survey Results <br /> Pursuant to Council direction, staff has surveyed neighboring communities regarding the <br /> imposition of civil penalties for alcohol and tobacco server violations. Surveys for <br /> penalties for each type of violation are attached. You will note that we have one of the <br /> penalties for tobacco violations. Given our lack of a set schedule for alcohol violations, <br /> we are one of the more lenient. <br /> Also attached are our tobacco and alcohol ordinances regarding fines/punishment, a <br /> summary of our tobacco violations/penalties, a summary of our alcohol <br /> violations/penalties, and our agenda memo from the last meeting discussing our tobacco <br /> penalties as compared to statutory minimums. <br /> It is also interesting to note that Roseville is also in the process of updating their <br /> penalties. I have attached a copy of the revisions they are considering. <br /> Based upon this information, direction from the Council is needed as to how you would <br /> like us to proceed with modifications, if any. <br /> 1 <br /> <br />
