The ordinance includes numerous updates that are not part of the City's existing

floodplain ordinance, such as:
References to "manufactured homes" versus "mobile homes" as the existing
ordinance does;
® Includes Floodplain definitions, which are not included in the existing ordinance;
® Goes into more detail regarding flood proofing techniques for conditional uses in
the Flood Fringe District;
® Clearly differentiates between what is permitted and conditionally-permitted in the
Floodway and Flood Fringe Districts, along with standards for each. The existing
Ordinance includes permitted and conditionally-permitted items, but is confusing
in its interpretation between what is permitted and what is conditionally-permitted
in which district; and
• Contains updated vocabulary, helping in the interpretation of the Ordinance.
The draft ordinance has been forwarded to DNR staff for comment, and a copy will be
provided to Planning Commission members prior to the March 11 meeting for review
and recommendation.
3
