I enclose a copy of the appraisal obtained by the City from which the <br /> offer of compensation is derived. You will note that we used "Alternative #2 -Fee <br /> Taking" for the valuation of the property. Alternative #2 is the layout you stated you <br /> preferred. <br /> Under Minnesota law, you may obtain an appraisal of the property and Ue reimbursed up <br /> to $5,000 for the appraisal cost. The City will pay a reimbursement claim within 30 days <br /> of receiving a copy of the appraisal and an invoice of the appraisal costs. The City can <br /> also directly reimburse the appraiser, if that is acceptable to you. <br /> 'The City has previously discussed the planned public works projects contemplated in <br /> your area which require the acquisition of this property. The City Engineer has also <br /> worked with you on alignment options to address concerns you expressed. The City <br /> wishes to give you as much information about the projects as you require; please contact <br /> me if you require any information on the proposed projects. <br /> "the City's first preference is to reach an agreement for direct purchase of the property, <br /> without using eminent domain. Once you have reviewed the appraisal, please contact me <br /> at your earliest opportunity so that we may negotiate a purchase agreement. <br /> The likely time horizon for the City's project is for construction of water and sewer lines <br /> to be completed this summer.
