MINiITES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br /> AUGUST 11, 2010 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City Council <br /> of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 11th day of August, 2010 in <br /> the Conference Room of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in <br /> said City. <br /> Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the following <br /> members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br /> CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Bill Blesener <br /> Council Member Mr. John Keis <br /> Council Member Mr. Mike McGraw <br /> Council Member Mr. Kick Montour <br /> ABSEN`f: Council Member Ms. Shelly Boss <br /> ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel I2. Hanson <br /> Finance Director Ms. Shelly Rueckert <br /> Fire Department Mr. Steve Morelan <br /> Fire Department Mr. Bob Liebel <br /> Fire Department Mr. Jim Gustafson <br /> Fire Department Mr. Gar Johnson <br /> City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br /> <br /> LITTLE Steve Morelan, Little Canada Fire Department, began the workshop <br /> CANADA with a review of 2009 calls for service breaking these down by type <br /> EIRE llEPT. of call, responses by day of week, and responses by alarm hour. Morelan <br /> UPDATE also reviewed the major fires that occurred during 2009 which resulted in <br /> substantial property loss. Next reviewed was the National Fire Prevention <br /> Association (NFPA) Fire Experience Survey for 2009. <br /> Morelan then reviewed the 2009 Alarm Incident List noting that there were 220 <br /> alarms with an average response of 17 fire fighters per alarm. The number of <br /> alarms is down from 2008. Again, Morelan reviewed the various types of calls. <br /> Additionally, he noted that the Little Canada Fire Department does a lot more <br /> than just answer fire calls. Other activities include drills, business meetings, and <br /> trainings. Extra-curricular activities include assisting with the Canadian Days <br /> race and other Canadian Days activities, Night to Unite, the City's ice cream <br /> social, bell-ringing for the Red Cross, Fire Prevention Week, etc. Morelan noted <br /> that the Fire Department has provided the City with good fire protection and has <br /> been a good corporate citizen. <br /> Morelan next reviewed the Fire Department's 2009 Budget Versus Actual <br /> Report highlighting for the Council areas in the budget which had substantial <br /> <br />
