<br /> MINUTES <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> AUGUST 11, 2010 <br /> With regard to the building, Morelan noted that work was completed on <br /> renovating an open space to a conference room. Meeting space is tight in the <br /> station given the number of active committees the department has. He also <br /> noted that window caulking has been completed, but the department is still <br /> looking into some needed concrete caulking. <br /> Morelan then reviewed additional discussion items noting that the Little Canada <br /> Fire Department has entered into a temporary agreement with Roseville relative <br /> to co-response in the Kice Street/Highway 36 area. Response from both cities is <br /> being impacted by the bridge project. Next discussed was The issue of a first <br /> right of refusal for 331 East Little Canada Road. Morelan noted that the Fire <br /> Department is interest in the property for parking expansion, and potentially <br /> building expansion if Allina Medical were to locate in the station. The City <br /> Administrator indicated that he has not contacted the property owner, but would <br /> do so. <br /> Morelan then reviewed the issue of hydrant replacement noting that as streets <br /> are reconstruction attention should be given to hydrant replacement and whether <br /> or not additional hydrants are needed. Morelan reported a recent multiple <br /> vehicle fire on Ryan Drive pointing out there is no water main in his area. The <br /> City Administrator indicated that at the time the Frattalone property redevelops <br /> the urstallation of water main in this area will likely happen. Morelan <br /> commented that he understands that the City Engineer has engineering standards <br /> for hydrants within a certain radius. However, these standards do not always <br /> work in reality. The City Administrator suggested that the Fire Department <br /> provide a list of problem areas for review. It was also noted that there ai•e very <br /> few areas of the city without water and the addition of water in the area of <br /> Terrace Heights Mobile Home Park will happen yet this year. <br /> The next matter discussed was the City's ability to recover costs for Fire <br /> Department response to freeway calls. It was noted that the City of Vadnais <br /> Heights does do this, billing insurance compa~ries for fire department response <br /> time. The City Administrator indicated that he would discuss this matter with <br /> the Vadnais Heights City Administrator. <br /> The next item on the agenda was review of the Fire Department Equipment <br /> Replacement Funding Plata Committee. "1 he City Administrator reviewed his <br /> August 6, 2010 report in detail highlighting the Vehicle Replacement Schedule <br /> that was developed by the Committee. The estimated replacement guideline is <br /> as follows and is dependent on factors such as equipment condition, safety, etc.: <br /> Aerials - 25 Years <br /> Pumpers - 22 Years <br /> Command/Rescue Vehicles - 25 Years <br /> Grass Rig/Piclo-up Vehicles- 14 Years <br /> 3 <br /> <br />
