MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 9, 2011
LITTLE
CANADA
ELEMENTARY
GYMNASIUM
USE
*APPROVAL OF TOBACCO LICENSE FOR LITTLE CANADA
SMOKE SHOP AND SPECIALTIES AT 37 LITTLE CANADA ROAD;
*APPROVAL OF THE 2011 PARKS RECREATION PROGRAM
FEE SCHEDULE;
*RESCHEDULING THE JOINT WORKSHOP WITH THE PARKS
RECREATION COMMISSION FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13, 2011,
AT 6:30 P.M.;
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator reviewed his report dated February 4, 2011
relative to an agreement between the City and the Roseville School
District for the City's use of gymnasium facilities at Little Canada
Elementary School. The Administrator noted that over 20 years ago
the City contributed significant dollars to enhance the construction of the
gym area at Little Canada Elementary. The agreement between the City
and the School District at that time allowed the City to use the space for
some of its recreation program offerings. That agreement has expired, and
the School District wants to amend the agreement in a manner that is
similar to what they have with other cities that use their facilities.
The Administrator reported that initially the School District wanted the
City to reimburse them for 50% of the operating costs of the gym space.
However, based on a use study that was done, that amount was reduced to
25 or just over $7,000. The Administrator also reported that the term of
the agreement was proposed at 5 years, and was re- negotiated to a 20 -year
agreement.
The Administrator reported that the City Attorney has reviewed the
agreement and finds it to be in order. City staff is recommending adoption
at this time.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -2 -36 APPROVING THE GYMNASIUM
USE AGREEMENT WITH THE ROSEVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT
AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR,
AUTHORIZING PAYMENT OF THE GYM USE FEE, AND
2
