Hanson <br />www. ci. little- canac(a.mn.us <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator <br />DATE: April 22, 2011 <br />RE: Tobacco Ordinance Revisions <br />The City Attorney will be present at Wednesday's meeting to review proposed revisions <br />to the City's Tobacco Ordinance relative to a two - tiered licensing system and additional <br />regulation of tobacco shops. l have attached this ordinance as well as the City's current <br />Tobacco Ordinance. <br />At the Sheriff's Department meeting this week, the Ramsey Tobacco Coalition presented <br />a model tobacco licensing ordinance prepared in cooperation with the League of MN <br />Cities. The Coalition is encouraging that the contracting cities adopt similar regulations <br />with regard to tobacco as well as the new products that are being sold. <br />Council should discuss which provisions from the model ordinance should be <br />incorporated into final draft of the tobacco ordinance amendment. <br />1 <br />
