MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 27, 2010
AMEND
ZONING
CODE
RELATIVE
TO OUTDOOR
STORAGE
SCREENING
REQUIREMENTS
REZONE &
CUP — 3075
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Blesener opened the Public Hearing to consider an Amendment to the
Zoning Code relative to screening requirements for outdoor storage in the
Industrial Zoning Districts. It was noted that the Planning Commission
recommended approval subject to compliance with the recommendations
of the City Planner.
The City Planner reported that the proposed amendment to screening
requirements in the Industrial Districts came about due to a recent outdoor
storage application and the Code requirement that gate areas are required
to be screened under the Code. The applicant requested a waiver from this
requirement for security purposes. The Planner noted that the City has
received input from the Sherift's Department that their preference is to
have a line of site into outdoor storage areas.
Montour noted the provision that the gate area that is unscreened can be
up to 24 feet in width. The City Planner pointed out that this is the same
maximum width as a drive aisle, but indicated that gates are typically
somewhat narrower than 24 feet.
There was no one else present from the general public wishing to
comment on this matter.
Upon motion by Montour, seconded by McGraw, the public hearing was
closed.
Mr. Reis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2010 -10 -266 — APPROVING ANAMENDMENT
TO THE ZONING CODE RELATIVE TO SCREENING
REQUIREMENTS FOR OUTDOOR STORAGE IN THE
INDUSTRIAL ZONING DISTRICTS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE
CITY PLANNER IN HIS REPORT DATED OCTOBER 7, 2010
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0).
