LITTLE <br />CANADA <br />FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT <br />CALLS FOR <br />SERVICE <br />MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />MAY 11, 2011 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City <br />Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 1 lth day of <br />May, 2011 in the Conference Room of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />City Administrator <br />Fire Chief <br />First Asst. Hanson <br />Don Smiley <br />Steve Morelan <br />Tim Boss <br />Carl Strohmeier <br />Kathy Glanzer <br />Representatives of the Little Canada Fire Department met with <br />the City Council to present an annual update on department <br />activities. Fire Chief Don Smiley reviewed the 2010 calls for <br />service, noting that there were a total of 185 incidents, total number of <br />personnel responding was 3,164, with an average turnout per incident of <br />18. <br />The Chief reported that the Fire Department currently has 34 firefighters <br />on its roster although its bylaws authorize up to 36. The Chief reported <br />that a roster of 34 helps the Fire Department's budget as well as impacts <br />its pension plan. He noted that the Department has had a good response to <br />fire calls with this roster number. Day calls are averaging 10 responders. <br />The Chief then reviewed data comparing calls by day of the week, <br />incident type, and count of incidents by alarm hour. The Chief then <br />reviewed an incident type summary report. Incident categories are Fire; <br />Overpressure Rupture Explosion, Overheat; Rescue & Emergency <br />Medical Service Incident; Hazardous Condition; Service Call; Good <br />
