MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 11, 2011
CONSENT
LETTER —
AT & T TOWER
LEASE
PURCHASE
OF HYDRANT
BUDDY
Consent Agreement so that they can make some changes to their antenna
system on the City's water tower. The Administrator reported that the
changes proposed are outside the current lease agreement, that is AT & T
is proposing to replace existing antennas with larger ones. The size of the
antennas proposed are larger than the lease agreement allows. Therefore,
the City Administrator recommended that the Owner's Consent
Agreement be denied and that he be authorized to negotiate terms of a
revised lease agreement with AT & T.
Mr. McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -5 -94 — DENYING APPROVAL OF THE
OWNER'S CONSENT AGREEMENT AS REQUESTED BY AT & T
GIVEN THE SIZE OF THE ANTENNAS PROPOSED EXCEED
WHAT IS AUTHORIZED IN THE LEASE AGREEMENT, AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO RENEGOTIATE
THE AT & T LEASE AGREEMENT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator reported that the Public Works Superintendent is
requesting authorization to purchase two Hydrant Buddies at a cost of
$8,677.12. This piece of equipment is used for exercising fire hydrants
and gate valves. The Administrator reported that while the City has
always had very few Workers' Comp claims, it recently had two injuries
occur related to hydrant and gate valve work. The League of MN cities
Loss Control Department is recommending the purchase of these Hydrant
Buddies as a means of preventing the stress injuries that occurred.
Boss suggested that perhaps the equipment could be shared with another
city. The City Administrator reported that he would see if there was
interest in doing this.
Montour noted that the funding would come from the Water & Sewer
Capital Replacement Fund.
Mr. Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -5 -95 — AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE
OF TWO HYDRANT BUDDIES AT A COST OF $8,677.12 FROM
TORQBUDDYLLC, WITH THE FUNDING TO COME FROM THE
WATER & SEWER CAPITAL REPLACEMENT FUND
11
