3. Connection to storm sewer to the south <br />This option would extend storm sewer south within the RR right -of -way to an <br />existing structure. The depth of the existing structure wilt allow for normal grade <br />on the storm sewer pipe and only green area should be disturbed during the <br />installation. A new RR permit would be necessary for the work, but no additional <br />easements would be needed. The estimated cost for this option is approximately <br />$12,500.00. <br />Summary <br />Due to the safety concerns related to the sinkhole's close proximity to the tracks; <br />immediate action should be taken to correct the issue. City crews will be filling the <br />sinkhole this Monday and will continue to monitor the area for additional sinking. <br />Based on a review of the options and associated costs we would recommend Option #3 <br />be completed along with abandonment of the existing storm sewer crossing. We are in <br />the process of applying for the necessary Railroad permits and would like to complete <br />the new pipe installation and old pipe abandonment as soon as possible. The estimated <br />cost of the work is small enough to allow obtaining quotes for the work instead of a <br />formal bidding process and we would like City Council authorization to complete the <br />installation of the pipe and abandonment of the existing pipe.
