MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 25, 2011
Keis expressed concern with the State's budget situation, pointing out that
the City does not yet know what impact that will have on State aids to
Little Canada. He indicated that if the City is going to take a big hit from
the State, he would prefer not to proceed with the trail project. Montour
asked if levy dollars would fund the trail project. The Administrator
indicated that some levy dollars would be involved.
McGraw noted that a portion of the City's trail over the Water Works
property must be rerouted since St. Paul installed pumps in the paved path
area. The City Administrator indicated that the trail would be rerouted in
this area, and if the project does not proceed, walkers could be rerouted
via a mowed area around the impacted path section.
Montour suggested that the railroad be contacted relative to an extension
for the trail crossing permit. The Administrator indicated that he would do
so as well as obtain quotes for various path components. A report would
be submitted to the Council at its next meeting.
PARKS & REC It was noted that Ruth Steinwall has moved from the City, therefore, has
COMMISSION resigned her position on the Parks & Recreation Commission. The
APPOINTMENTS Council thanked Steinwall for her dedicated service to the City.
The Administrator indicated that given the numerous applications the City
received expressing interest in being appointed to the Commission late last
year, City staff recommended that those applicants be considered for the
vacancy on the Commission.
By ballot of the Council, Jeffrey Heikke was appointed to fill the Parks &
Recreation Commission vacancy.
ADJOURN Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2011-5-107 — ADJOURNING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0).
