MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 20, 2011
extension would cost the City $600, but suggested that that cost would be
recouped in cost savings for fill placement.
Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -6 -129 — AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO
OBTAIN AN EXTENSION FROM BNSF RAILROAD FOR THE
EXTENSION OF THE CITY'S TRAIL CROSSING AGREEMENT AT
A COST OF $600
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution adopted.
RAILROAD- The City Administrator reported that the City Engineer and Public
JACKSON Works Superintendent have informed him that there is a sinkhole
STREET along a section of the Canadian Pacific Railroad adjacent to Jackson
STORM Street just north of Demont. The sinkhole has been determined to be
SEWER PIPE a failed City storm sewer pipe crossing. This storm sewer pipe
CROSSING provides an outlet for a low area on the west side of the tracks into the
storm pond at Demont and Jackson.
The Administrator reviewed the City Engineer's report dated June 17,
2011 which outlines the options in addressing this situation. These
include a new railroad crossing directly adjacent to the old crossing,
extension of the Ruth storm sewer to the low area, or connection to the
storm sewer to the south. The City Engineer is recommending the
connection to the storm sewer to the south along with the abandonment of
the existing storm sewer crossing. Estimated cost of the work is $15,500,
but the Engineer is asking for authorization for up to $20,000 to address
any unforeseen conditions.
Boss introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -6 -125 — AUTHORIZING THE CITY
ENGINEER TO PROCEED WITH CORRECTION OF FAILED CITY
STORM SEWER PIPE CROSSING IN THE AREA OF JACKSON
STREET AND DEMONT AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY
ENGINEER IN HIS REPORT DATED JUNE 17, 2011 AT A COST
NOT TO EXCEED $20,000
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
13
