JOINT WORKSHOP WITH PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION TROUT BROOK TRAIL PROJECT MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING CITY COUNCIL LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA APRIL 13, 2011 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 13th day of April, 2011 in the Conference Room of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the following members of the City Council were present at roll call: CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Bill Blesener Council Member Ms. Shelly Boss Council Member Mr. John Keis Council Member Mr. Mike McGraw Council Member Mr. Rick Montour ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Hanson Finance Director Ms. Shelly Rueekert Parks & Rec. Dir. Mr. Jim Morelan Parks & Rec Comm. Ms. Linda Fahey Parks & Rec Comm. Mr. Tom Maida Parks & Rec Comm. Mr. Kevin Steinert Parks & Rec Comm. Ms. Katie Lolmaugh Parks & Rec Comm. Ms. Patti Sullivan Parks Consultant Mr. Bill Sanders City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer The purpose of this evening's workshop meeting is to conduct a joint workshop of the City Council and the Parks & Recreation Commission. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant, began the workshop by making a detailed presentation relative to the proposed Trout Brook Trail project. Sanders noted this is a project that the Commission has been working on for some time. The original idea was brought to the Commission by a group of residents that was studying trail routes in Ramsey County, and were having difficulty finding a north/south route. This trail has the potential of being a regional trail. The portion in Ramsey County would extend through St. Paul, Maplewood, Little Canada, Vadnais Heights, and Shoreview. Sanders described in detail the proposed trail route through these cities and commented on certain significant historical facts along the trail route. 9
