Bill Sanders, Park Consultant, began the workshop
by making a detailed presentation relative to the proposed Trout
Brook Trail project. Sanders noted this is a project that the
Commission has been working on for some time. The original idea
was brought to the Commission by a group of residents that was
studying trail routes in Ramsey County, and were having difficulty
finding a north/south route. This trail has the potential of being a
regional trail. The portion in Ramsey County would extend through St.
Paul, Maplewood, Little Canada, Vadnais Heights, and Shoreview.
Sanders described in detail the proposed trail route through these cities
and commented on certain significant historical facts along the trail route.
9
