MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 10, 2011
COMMUNITY
SURVEY
Montour noted that the results of the Community Survey show that
there are 53% of residents in support of re- opening the Demont skating
rink, and 62% in support of lighting bike and pedestrian trails. Montour
suggested that if the Demont rink is to be re- opened for the 2011 -2012
season, there should be money allocated in the budget to do so.
Keis asked if there was a cost /benefit analysis done relative to Demont
rink usage, and it was further suggested that limited hours, such as
weekend hours, might be an option.
Blesener suggested that the Parks Commission review the survey and
comment on the various parks and recreation items. It was also noted that
any cost items would have to be submitted to the Council for approval.
Montour noted the survey response relative to adult recreation. Blesener
pointed out the opportunities available through the 55+ Club and at
Fairview Community Center. It was suggested that the City should
promote those opportunities so that seniors are aware of them. McGraw
suggested that some effort should be given to determining if Little Canada
seniors feel there are recreational opportunities not being provided.
There being no further business, the workshop meeting was adjourned at
7:27 p.m.
$ill'$ esen •;Mayor
Attest: ,K lL
Joel Manson, City Administrator
7
