MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA OCTOBER 6, 2011 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 6th day of October, 2011, in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. Chair Linda Fahey called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the commission were present: MEMBERS PRESENT: Ms. Linda Fahey, Chair Mr. Jeff Heikke Ms. Katie Lolmaugh Mr. Dan Slain Mr. Kevin Steinert MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. Tom Maida Ms. Patti Sullivan ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Rec Dir. Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk MINUTES The Commission unanimously approved the minutes of the August 4, 2011 and September 1, 2011 meetings. TROUT Sanders reported that he and the Parks & Rec Director met with the BROOK County and presented the Trout Brook Trail project to them, asking the TRAIL County to take the lead in the development of this trail in order for the trail to have regional status. Sanders reported that the County was supportive of this request and will start the process with the Metropolitan Council to have the Trout Brook Trail classified as a regional trail. The Parks & Rec Director indicated that the County was impressed with the amount of planning that has been done and the trail plan that Sanders' has put together. The County felt that work will make their job easier in taking the trail to the next step, taking the project to the Met Council to get on their projects list. The Director felt, however, that it will take some time to work through the County and Met Council process. Sanders indicated that getting the trail project into the Met Council's preliminary system will be easy; however, getting it in line for funding will be more difficult.
