Beason <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Mayor 131esener & Members of City Council <br />FROM: Bill Dircks, Public Works Superintendent <br />DATE: March 5, 2008 <br />RE: Sleepy Hollow Lift Station Pump Replacement <br />The Sleepy Hollow lift station pumps storm water from the County Road B2 and Viking <br />Drive area up the Canabury Drive hill to Savage Lake. It was installed in 1984 and had <br />one pump replaced in 2003 after it failed. The second pump is now 24 years old and is <br />ready for replacement. The rail system used to pull the pumps also needs replacement. <br />Quotes were obtained from General Repair Services and North Star Pump Service to <br />replace the old pump with a new one including new stainless steel rail systems for both <br />pumps and any piping that would need to be retrofitted for the new pump. North Star <br />provided a quote of $22,950 for the work and General Repair provided a quote of <br />$18,350 plus tax on applicable items. The tax had not been figured in time for this memo <br />but it should be less than $1000. The General Repair quote also includes $1500 for <br />inspection and maintenance of the pump installed in 2003 to ensure it is working <br />properly. <br />Staff recommends the Council contract with General Repair Services to replace the old <br />pump and rails at the Sleepy Hollow lift station for $18,350 plus applicable tax. $20,000 <br />has been budgeted in the infrastructure improvements for this work. <br />
