Also with the addition of trash charges to the City's billing the size of residents quarterly
bill increased by a significant percentage. While residents no longer receive similar or
more frequent billings from the trash haulers, we do hear from time to time that increased
quarterly bill is harder to deal with from a personal budget standpoint. With the new
billing software we have the ability to do budget billing where we can set a flat monthly
amount based on expected annual charges. We could then collect that amount monthly by
ACH. We will review this possibility further and bring it back to the Council later in the
year.
We have attached a copy of the new utility billing invoice that will be used starting with
the 2008 first quarter billing. There will be a return envelope included with the new
statements.
SUMMARY
Based on the above, staff is recommending no change in sewer rates and that the 2008
water rates be modified as follows:
Winter Rate
Summer Rate
Water Service Fee
2007 2008
$2.25 $2.41
$2.33 $2.49
$10.50 $10.95
Staff is recommending that the council approve the rate adjustments as described above
and reconfirms or modifies the late charge policy.
3
