CONTRACT FOR FIRE PROTECTION <br />2008 <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />WHEREAS, the City of Little Canada is authorized by law to provide fire protection for all of the <br />property in said City, and <br />WHEREAS, the Little Canada Fire Department, Incorporated, is a volunteer fire department, <br />operating as a non -profit association under the laws of the State of Minnesota and owns certain fire <br />equipment, trucks, etc., for fighting fires, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Little Canada and the Little Canada Fire Department, <br />Incorporated, hereinafter referred to as the City and the Fire Department, respectively, in consideration of <br />the following provisions and covenants, do hereby enter into this contract and agreement on the day and <br />date hereunto subscribed. <br />1. The City hereby engages the services of the Fire Department to answer fire calls and fight <br />fires and generally to provide fire protection to public and private property within the City of Little <br />Canada for a period of one (1) year commencing January 1, 2008, and terminating December 31, 2008. <br />2. The Fire Department agrees to answer all fire calls directed to it by the public for <br />assistance in fighting fires of any nature and description within the legal limits of the City. <br />3. The Fire Department will provide Awareness level services for hazardous materials <br />incidents. Hazardous materials services beyond Awareness level will be provided by the State of <br />Minnesota. <br />4. The City agrees to pay to the Fire Department for its services during the period above <br />specified, and the Fire Department agrees to accept as full remuneration for its services during the said <br />period, the sum of $258,360 payable in fourths with the first payment due upon the effective date of this <br />contract. Subsequent payments to be due on April lst, July 1st, and October lst. <br />5. For 2008, the City shall pay to the Little Canada Volunteer Fire Relief Association a sum <br />equal to $15,000 within 30 days of receipt of Fire State Aid from the State of Minnesota. <br />6. The Fire Department shall furnish the City by April 30th of the year following the current <br />contract an accurate accounting of actual operating expenses for the year just completed. The Fire <br />Department shall submit a proposed operating budget for 2009 to the City by August 20th of the contract <br />year. It is understood that this amount will be reviewed as part of the City's budget process. This review <br />will result in the final contract amount for 2009. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />2 <br />
