Way e Wanaada
MAYOR
Bill Blesener
COUNCIL,
Rick Montour
Barbara Allan
John Keis
Michael McGraw
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel R. Hanson
www.ci.little-canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council
FROM: Jessica Jagoe, Code Enforcement Officer
DATE: May 21, 2008
RE: Establishment of Automobile Repair- Salvage License Fee
Based on recent expansion of the categories of motor vehicle repair licenses, it is staff's
recommendation that the City's Fee Schedule be amended to delete the reference to
Motor Vehicle Repair and add each category of license and license fee as follows:
Automobile Repair -Major $300
Automobile Repair -Minor $300
Automobile Repair - Salvage $300
The current annual license fee for Motor Vehicle Repair is $300 which was increased
from $150 approximately one year ago. Staff's position is that the fee should remain at
$300 at this time to give the City an opportunity to look at the amount of code
enforcement time relative to each license category. It is hoped that the recent I -1 District
amendments relative to outdoor storage, etc. will result in a decrease in the need for code
enforcement. If not, staff will be able to determine the amount of code enforcement
relative to each license category, and would be better able to recommend a specific
license fee for each individual repair category.
Also attached is a proposed amendment to the Municipal Code Section 807 which lists
the three license categories for clarity.
Therefore, staff is recommending:
An Amendment to the City Fee Schedule relative to Automobile Repair License
fees as described above; and
An Amendment to Municipal Code Section 807 as described above.
