Ranson
Attached is a contract with the Department of Corrections relative to their Institution
Community Work Crew. 'l'his contract provides the City with daily service from the
work crew for 2012 at a cost of $475.00 per day (same rate as 2.011). This amount
reflects the costs of supervision. Crews may consist of up to ten crew members plus a
crew leader. One use we are contemplating in 2012 is the possible removal of scrub trees
and brush from the western edge of Spooner Park in order to create more usable area for
the Canadian Days Celebration. Other uses could include rain water garden planting,
other parks projects, and storm clean -up. For 2011 we authorized an "as needed" basis
where utilization of this program would be less costly than other options.
Staff recommends approval of the contract as submitted on the same basis as 2011.
1
