You might have to contact John Ward at
john(o@8pplewoodfixit.com if you need more information.
Nexstar Legacy Foundation was established in 2005 and was granted 501(c)3 status by the IRS in 2006.
The foundation was established as a charitable and educational nonprofit organization. It is a "sister" organization of Nexstar Inc.,
which is a membership association for business owners in the plumbing, heating & cooling, and electrical professions. Nexstar Inc.
and its members are the primary donors to the foundation, The office of Nexstar Legacy Foundation is situated within the
headquarters of Nexstar Inc. in Little Canada, MN (moved from White Bear Lake in late 2007).
The foundation has awarded $45,000 in scholarships, $15,000 per year for each of the three years of its operation. Scholarships are
awarded to students in three eligibility categories. Students can apply if they are attending or will soon enroll in 1) an apprenticeship
program, while working full -time for a licensed plumbing, HVACR or electrical contractor; or 2) a technical or community college,
working toward a plumbing, HVACR, or electrical degree; or 3) a full -time undergraduate degree program at a 4 -year university,
majoring in mechanical or electrical engineering or business administration.
Applications for the 2009 scholarship awards will be available soon at the foundation's website, www.nexstarfoundation.opn. The
2008 application can be viewed there now.
The raffle proceeds in 2009 will be used for the foundation's ongoing operating expenses and for the scholarship awards. Special
events such as the annual silent auction (this year, to be held in October in Seattle), occasional golf tournaments (in 2009, to be heiL,
in Scottsdale, AZ), and raffles are the fundraising events that bring in the money to keep the scholarship program running. The
foundation held a raffle in 2007 with a valid raffle permit issued by the state of MN, through the city of White Bear Lake, MN.
Cheryl Clifford
Foundation Administrator
Nexstar Legacy Foundation (NLF)
125 Little Canada Road West, Suite 200
Little Canada MN 55117
Phone: 651.789.8518
Fax: 651.789.8519
Nexstar Network phone numbers
651.426.2000
888.609.5490
www.nexstarfoundation.org
4
