LAND USE PLAN
Housing Occupancy/Tenure
According to the 2000 Census, Little Canada had a total of 4,471 housing units in the City. Only
96 of them were noted to be vacant, resulting in an occupancy rate of 98 percent. In 2000, Little
Canada had a similar occupancy rate to Ramsey County and the Metro Area. Minnesota's
occupancy rate in 2000 was slightly lower at 92 percent.
100
80
60
40
20
0
Lit le Canada Ramsey Co my Metro Area Minnesota
❑ /o Occupied
0 % Vacant
As of 2000, the majority of the occupied housing units within the City of Little Canada were
owner - occupied units. It can be assumed, in consideration of the City's existing land use
patterns, that the percentage of owner- occupied housing units has remained high. Little Canada
had a higher percentage of renter - occupied housing units in 2000 than Ramsey County, the Twin
Cities Metro Area and Minnesota as a whole. This is a reflection of Little Canada's large
offering of multiple family housing units.
100
80
60
40
20
0
Little
Canada
Metro
Area
0% Owned ®% Rented
City of Little Canada — 2030 Comprehensive Plan
31
