I- lansou
www.ci.little-canada.mn.us
July 7, 2008
To: Joel Hanson City Administrator, The Little Canada Planning Commission
From: Jim Lee Fire Marshal, Jim Morelan Fire Chief
Re: Conditional Use Permit & Variance
53 Woodlyn, 70 Woodlyn and 95 Woodlyn
Today the Fire Chief and I met with Dave Holm from On Site Sanitation to discuss his
outdoor storage. Based on the fuel load of the material being stored we felt it was
necessary to define a fire department access /firebreak in the storage area's. Because of
the fuel load an access road /firebreak is necessary to help prevent the spread of fire and
allow for better fire department access. We discussed the 95 Woodlyn's storage issue,
fuel load and the topography making it difficult to fight a fire. It was Dave Holm's
suggestion to allow for two fire access /firebreaks in the storage area. The Fire Chief and I
feel this will be adequate to support fire fighting and /or rescue operations. There are
some differences on the drawings regarding measurements, the Fire Chief and I measured
the property and our drawing reflects the measurements we obtained.
70 Woodlyn this property has the same issues, fuel load and topography making it
difficult for fire fighting and /or rescue operations. Our drawing reflects fire
access /firebreak proposed for this property.
53 Woodlyn, the only issue with this property is a 20 -foot wide fire access road must be
maintained. There are no storage issues with this property at this time.
Jim /Lee
Fire Marshal
