MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 26, 2011
indicated that in reviewing the cost estimates with Xcel, it was his sense
that there was not much depreciation credit factored in for the City. The
Administrator indicated that the City is not precluded from undertaking
this project in the future. Montour and Boss agreed that this project was
too expensive to undertake at this time. Blesener suggested that the City
Administrator confirm in writing with Xcel that the City would not be
precluded from moving forward with the project in the future.
The City Administrator reported that City staff will continue to work with
the County on other amenities that will be a part of the Little Canada Road
upgrade.
2012 The City Administrator reviewed the City Engineer's report dated October
IMPROVEMENTS 21, 2011 relative to 2012 street and utility improvements. The
Administrator noted that the list of potential projects could change (Spruce
Street) depending on what happens with the 694 bridge project. The
Administrator pointed out that staff would like the flexibility of
considering a number of potential projects, which would then be fine -
tuned depending on the feedback received at the neighborhood meetings,
the 694 bridge project, and the available funding for this work. The
Administrator noted that the City has earmarked approximately $1 million
per year for street improvements. This amount of money would not be
adequate to do all the projects proposed.
Blesener asked about authorizing the City Engineer to do feasibility
studies on all the projects. The Administrator reported that the Engineer
would have to have most of this work done in preparation for the
neighborhood meetings. If the City did not proceed with a project, the
feasibility study would remain valid into the future except for needing
updated numbers.
Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -10 -214 — AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO
HOLD NEIGHBORHOOD MEETINGS ON POTENTIAL 2012
IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
ENGINEER TO PREPARE FEASIBILITY REPORTS ON THESE
POTENTIAL PROJECTS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
4
