�L RIN6 ISSO(IIITtS <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Little Canada Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Lee Elfering, City Engineer <br />DATE: November 3, 2011 <br />RE: County Road B2 Landscaping Project <br />Change Order #1 <br />Background <br />After the bids were received for the County Road B2 Landscaping Project we reviewed <br />the project to see if any modifications could be made to the project scope or bid items to <br />allow for a cost savings. <br />Upon review of the bid items it was determined that a cost savings could be realized by <br />completing the restoration with seed instead of sod. In addition, the mulch bid item was <br />modified from a dyed much to a standard MnDOT Type 6 wood mulch. <br />Due to the amount of time in obtaining Saint Jude's approval for the project costs prior to <br />award of the project, the Contractor's start date was delayed beyond that expected <br />during issuance of the specifications. This delay will require that some of the plantings <br />be completed next spring. Therefore we would recommend modification of the final <br />completion date to May 25, 2012. <br />Summary and Recommendations <br />Due to the time of year and the fact that the area will have an irrigation system, we feel <br />that seeding is an acceptable means of restoration. Change Order #1 is attached, which <br />outlines the cost savings for the above changes.
