4.0 RESULTS
4.1 Asbestos Sampling Results
A total of thirty-six samples were collected of materials suspected of containing asbestos.
The results of the sampling show that the following materials were determined to be
asbestos containing and must be removed prior to demolition:
The duct wrap (paper) found on the ductwork located in the bedroom closet floor cavity
was determined to be asbestos containing. There is approximately three square feet of
the paper present. The paper will have to be removed by a licensed asbestos abatement
contractor prior to demolition of the building.
The sheet flooring (linoleum) common to the kitchen was determined to be asbestos
containing. There is approximately 250 square feet of the sheet flooring present. The
sheet flooring will have to be removed by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor prior
to demolition of the building.
The floor tile underlayment paper common to the laundry room was determined to be
asbestos containing. The gray paper is found beneath the floor tiles. There is
approximately 40 square feet of the paper present that will have to be removed by a
licensed asbestos abatement contractor prior to demolition of the building.
The widow glazing common the exterior windows was determined to be asbestos
containing. The glazing is found around the individual panes of glass on each window.
There are 8 window openings on the house with the glazing. The glazing will have to be
removed by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor prior to demolition of the building.
The caulking found in the kitchen at the base of the west wall (where the floor meets the
wall on the west and south walls) was determined to be asbestos containing. There is
approximately 20 linear feet of the caulking present. The caulking should be removed by
a licensed asbestos abatement contractor prior to demolition of the building.
Two of three samples collected of the textured ceiling spray found in the house were
determined to be asbestos containing. LEGEND would recommend treating all of the
spray as asbestos containing and therefore, there is approximately 1,100 square feet of the
spray present. The spray will have to be removed by a licensed asbestos abatement
contractor prior to demolition of the building.
The 9 "x9" floor tile common to the bedroom was determined to be asbestos containing.
There is approximately 575 square feet of the tile present beneath carpeting. The tiles
will have to be removed by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor prior to demolition.
The black roof tar found around the perimeter of the chimney was determined to be
asbestos containing. There is approximately 15 linear feet of the tar present. The tar
should be removed by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor prior to demolition of the
building.
Page 2of3
.g.
