4.0 RESULTS
4.1 Asbestos Sampling Results
A total of thirty-five samples were collected of materials suspected of containing
asbestos. The results of the sampling show that the following materials were determined
to be asbestos containing and must be removed prior to demolition:
The cement -board (transite) panels located beneath the windows on the front of the
convenience store on the west and south walls were determined to be asbestos containing.
The panels are located on both the interior and exterior sides of the wall. There is
approximately 260 square feet of panels present (includes interior and exterior panels).
Vermiculite insulation is present in the cores of the block walls of the carwash building.
The four walls common to the carwash portion of the building contain vermiculite. There
is approximately 1,300 square feet of block walls (surface area) that contain the
vermiculite insulation.
The caulking found around the bolts on the rooftop wall that surrounds the air handling
units was determined to be asbestos containing. There is approximately four square feet
of the caulk present on the heads of the bolts at the base of the wall.
Refer to Table #1 in Appendix A and the diagrams in Appendix B for sampling and
asbestos locations. The quantities given are only estimates and should be verified by the
abatement contractor prior to bidding.
4.2 Lead in Paint Sampling Results
A total of three samples were collected of paints found in and on the carwash building
that were in poor condition. The results show that all paints tested were determined to be
non - lead -based paints and therefore, no stabilization is required.
Refer to Table #2 located in Appendix A for further information regarding the samples.
4.3 Regulated Material Survey
The following is an itemization of the regulated materials identified on the parcel that
need to be removed prior to demolition:
Regulated Waste
Location
Approximate Quantity
2 — 24 ounce bottles
Clorox bleach
Inside store
Window cleaner
Inside store
24 ounce bottle
Dish soap
Inside store
12 ounce bottle
SanMax Sanitizer
Inside store
2 — 77 ounce bottles
A.P.C.
