Vadnais Heights takes care of obtaining quotes and lining up
the contractor for the work. This year we have about 23,500 linear feet of road to crack
seal and the Parks Dept. will be crack sealing the bituminous trails located throughout the
City. It is estimated that this work will require up to 14,000 lbs. of rubber to seal the
cracks. That number is only an estimate as there is no really solid way to measure how
much product will be required to seal all cracks. Quotes were received from 3
companies: Bargen Inc. at $1.19 per lb., Bergman Companies, Inc. at $1.24 per lb., and
Northwest Asphalt Maintenance, Inc. at $0.89 per lb. It is the recommendation of
Vadnais Heights and Little Canada staff that the Council approve the quote from
Northwest Asphalt Maintenance, Inc. of $0.89 per lb. Northwest Asphalt did the crack
sealing in the City for quite a few years up until Last year when they had a change in
ownership and couldn't perform the service. They have always done acceptable work
and the new owners are former employees of the company so they are familiar with the
City.
