that their existing Sign Code was incompatible with their City goals and might allow <br />undesirable sign types and sizes in the future. The City also anticipated that there <br />would be additional submittals for constructing new or modifying existing electronic <br />signs. The City determined that the sign moratorium was necessary in order to permit <br />the City Council to review and evaluate changes to the current sign regulations and to <br />preserve the integrity of the planning process. <br />Additional cities have also enacted a moratorium to address the situation and consider <br />options to amend their City code to properly address it, including Minnetonka, Coon <br />Rapids, Alexandria, White Bear Lake, and many others. <br />League of Minnesota Cities Study. The League of Minnesota Cities is working with <br />SRF Engineering, who is conducting a study to find out the implications that electronic <br />billboards may have on traffic safety, if any. The League of Minnesota Cities does not <br />expect any results from this study until early this summer.
