However, in reading through the minutes, it sounds like a
sidewalk will not be an option. The Director stated that the City Engineer had originally stated
that the Commission would be given an opportunity to comment on a trail in this location, but a
decision was made by the City Council at the public hearing based on the information that the
Engineer had provided a week ago. A sidewalk in this location would have been cost -
prohibitive to work around the changes in elevation that drop off next to the roadway. The
street will be made a little wider to accommodate walking areas on each side of the driving
lanes.
CANADIAN Mans stated that a meeting was held on January 18 with Pat Johnson, Greg Maranda, and the
WOODS Maplewood property owners to come up with a solution for the park charge on the Canadian
Woods development. A copy of a memorandum explaining the outcome of this meeting was
distributed to the Commission for their review.
Mans stated that concern was expressed at the last Commission meeting dealing with the
proximity of the proposed trail to the wetlands. The Watershed District has stated that although
there are no specific rules to address this, they would prefer that the trail be set back 37.5 feet
Page 1 of 3
