CITY OF LITTLE CANADA /CITY OF VADNAIS HEIGHTS Seal Coating Bids Notice is hereby given that bids will be received, opened and read aloud in the Council Chambers of the City of Little Canada, located at 515 Little Canada Road East, on the 27th day of June, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. for bituminous seal coating on selected streets in the cities of Little Canada and Vadnais Heights. SPECIFICATIONS FOR SEAL COATING STREETS 1. Seal coat shall be applied in accordance with Minnesota D.O.T. Spec. No. 2356. 2. Cost per square yard for seal coating includes: • Street sweeping before seal coating. • Seal coating. ♦ Removal of all surplus aggregate from seal coat operations from cities. 3. Bituminous material shall be CRS -2 (with up to two rollers as needed) for Little Canada and CRS -2P (with up to three rollers as needed) for Vadnais Heights. 4. Aggregate: Virgin FA -2 Trap Rock shall be used on the selected streets in Vadnais I-Ieights and Virgin FA -2 Class A Granite shall be used on the selected streets in Little Canada. (see table for location and square yards). 5. Work to be completed within the timeframe of July 5 to July 27, 2007. 6. Sweeping shall occur within 1 -4 working days. 7. Each City reserves the right to increase or decrease seal coat yardage. 8. Furnish a certificate of insurance and performance bond when bid is accepted. 9. All bids must be on proposal forms furnished and shall be accompanied by a certified check or bidders bond in the amount of 5% (5 percent) of the amount of the bid. 10. All manholes and gate valves must be protected with sand. 11. All surplus aggregate from seal coat operations shall be removed from City. 12. All prime contractors must have minimum of 5 years of actual seal coating experience. 13. Contractor shall be responsible for traffic control including posting of signage and flagmen. All streets shall be posted "No Parking" at least 48 hours in advance of seal coat work commencing. Loose gravel signs shall be in place until excess aggregate is swept up. 14. All oil shall be completely covered by city specified aggregate. 15. Contractor shall provide at least 7 days notice of intent to begin work in each city. 16. Specifications and tables of streets to be seal coated are available at Little Canada City Hall. 3
