Cities use a variety of criteria as the basis Ear setting <br />park dedication tees. The survev responses were: <br />• Rate of inflation - 1 t <br />• Increase in property vaiues - t <br />• Correlation to other cltl °l - 1 <br />• Relationship to CIP - 111 <br />• Other — 10 <br />The number of responses exceeds 52 because some <br />cities reported using more than one criteria. <br />Collection of Park Dedication <br />The majority of cities (30 cities /58 %) collect park <br />dedication in connection with the platting process. <br />Nine cities (17 %) collect park dedication fees <br />through the building permit. Another nine cities <br />responded that fees collected both platting and <br />building permit. <br />Residential Property <br />The survey did not find a common approach for park dedication requirements. The responses suggest that <br />approaches are tailored around the unique conditions in each city. The survey asked the city to select the <br />response that matched the current park dedication requirements for residential property. The total number of responses is more <br />than 52 because several surveys checked more than <br />one method. <br />Eleven cities reported using a land area /value ratio <br />other than 10 %. Five of these cities use a ratio <br />between 5% and 8 %. Two cities reported ratios <br />between 119 /0 and 16 %.
