Hanson <br />www.ci.little-canada.mn.us <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Shelly Rueekert, Finance Director <br />DATE: December 16, 2011 <br />RE: 2012 Final Budget <br />Enclosed is the 2012 Final Budget for Council approval. Please note that the 2011 estimated <br />actual results have been updated. <br />The notable 2011 updates are as follows: <br />• 2011 Property tax collections are projected to be $2,196,615 for the General Fund. This <br />represents a collection rate of 99.75 %. The budgeted collection rate was 97.5 %. <br />Positive impact $50,072 <br />• Building and plan check fees are expected to yield $183,550 for 2011. <br />Positive impact $27,300 <br />The 2012 Budget revisions were limited to the following: <br />• 2012 Fire Marshal expenditures have been reduced by 20% due to Fire Marshal's <br />reduction in hours (20 hrs to -16 hrs, voluntary). Staff contacted the Fire Chief for his <br />view on the reduction of hours. The Fire Chief did not fell the reduction in hours would <br />have a negative impact on services. <br />Positive impact $6,526 <br />• 2012 newsletter costs have been increased to print the newsletter with one an additional <br />color. The all black format was part of the 2009/10 budget cuts. Staff is also exploring <br />options to move to a full color newsletter. Staff's findings regarding the full color option <br />will be presented at a later date.
