saint john's of little Canada
380 Little Canada Road • Little Canada, Minnesota 55117 -1699
(651) 484 -2708 • Fax (651) 484 -0567
To Members of the Little Canada City Council
We respectfully request your permission for our neighbor, Nathan Johnson, to be granted
a city permit to bow hunt deer on our property, south of our cemetery.
It has come to our attention that it may be advantageous for us to have our local deer herd
"managed" to reduce the number of car /deer accidents and "near- misses" on local streets
and Little Canada Road. We are sorry for missing the deadline on submission for
tonight's Council agenda as we were waiting on the latest information from the
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
We have spoken to Bryan Lueth, director of the Urban Area Wildlife Office of the DNR
and he has said that he sees no problem - St. John's is covered under The MN Outdoor
Recreation Act (604A.20 -27) that encourages recreational hunting and exempts owner
liability. In Mr. Lueth's words, "hunting should be promoted as a deer management tool ".
Thank you for your consideration on this matter.
Sincerely,
syL -c um- 424Z -'-'t
eanne Messersmith
Church Business Administrator
0 printed on recycled paper
