MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />DECEMBER 21, 2011 <br />FINANCE <br />DIRECTOR <br />TRANSITION <br />PLAN <br />PLANNING <br />COMMISSION <br />VACANCIES <br />APPOINTMENTS <br />PARK <br />COMMISSION <br />VACANCIES <br />APPOINTMENTS <br />The City Administrator reported that Shelly Rueckert has resigned as the <br />City's Finance Director to take a position with the City of St. Anthony right <br />after the first of the year. The City Administrator indicated that the Finance <br />Director has done an excellent job for the City and she will be missed. The <br />Mayor agreed that the Finance Director has done a great job for the City and <br />echoed the Administrator's comments that she will be missed. The Director <br />stated that she enjoyed her time with Little Canada and thanked the City for the <br />opportunity and time spent here. <br />The Administrator reported that he is planning to advertise the Finance Director <br />position after the holidays, and is exploring options for the transition process. <br />The current Finance Director will assist the City with some tasks, i.e. finalizing <br />2011 audit papers. The Administrator reported that he will keep the Council <br />informed about the transition process. <br />The City Administrator reported that the terms of office on the Planning <br />Commission for Scott Barraclough, Tom Fischer, and Chuck Pechmann expire <br />on December 31, 2011. These vacancies have been advertised and the three <br />incumbents have applied for reappointment. Additionally, applications were <br />received from Gilbert Coleman, Jennifer Maleitzke, Nick Schwalbach, and Jon <br />Stone. The Administrator reported that the new applicants were interviewed by <br />the Vice Chair of the Commission and himself, except for Nick Schwalbach <br />who was interviewed last year. The Administrator felt that all were very well <br />qualified and would do a good job on the Commission. however, given Jennifer <br />Maleitzke's background, he and the Vice Chair felt she was the most qualified <br />of the new applicants. <br />By ballot of the Council, Scott Barraclough, Tom Fischer, and Jennifer <br />Maleitzke were appointed to three -year terms on the Planning Commission <br />commencing January 1, 2012. <br />The City Administrator reported that the terms of office on the Parks & <br />Recreation Commission for Dan Slain and Patti Sullivan expire on December <br />31, 2011. These vacancies have been advertised and the two incumbents have <br />applied for reappointment. Additionally, applications were received from <br />Ronald Horwath and Rita Mills. The Administrator reported that the Chair of <br />the commission and the Parks & Recreation Director interviewed Rita Mills. <br />Ron Horwath was interviewed last year. It was their recommendation that the <br />two incumbents be reappointed, while noting that the new applicants were well <br />qualified to serve on the Commission. <br />14 <br />
