CONTRACT FOR FIRE PROTECTION <br />2012 <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />WHEREAS, the City of Little Canada is authorized by law to provide fire protection for <br />all of the property in said City, and <br />WHEREAS, the Little Canada Fire Department, Incorporated, is a volunteer fire <br />department, operating as a non- profit association under the laws of the State of Minnesota and <br />owns certain fire equipment, trucks, etc., for fighting fires, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Little Canada and the Little Canada Fire Department, <br />Incorporated, hereinafter referred to as the City and the Fire Department, respectively, in <br />consideration of the following provisions and covenants, do hereby enter into this contract and <br />agreement on the day and date hereunto subscribed. <br />1. The City hereby engages the services of the Fire Department to answer fire calls <br />and fight fires and generally to provide fire protection to public and private property within the <br />City of Little Canada for a period of one (1) year commencing January 1, 2012, and terminating <br />December 31, 2012. <br />2. The Fire Department agrees to answer all fire calls directed to it by the public for <br />assistance in fighting fires of any nature and description within the legal limits of the City. <br />3. The Fire Department will provide Awareness level services for hazardous <br />materials incidents. Hazardous materials services beyond Awareness level will be provided by <br />the State of Minnesota. <br />4. The City agrees to pay to the Fire Department for its services during the period <br />above specified, and the Fire Department agrees to accept for its services during the said period, <br />the sum of $261,119 payable quarterly. The City will issue the first quarterly check immediately <br />following the first City Council meeting of the contract year. Subsequent quarterly payments <br />will be issued immediately following the Council meetings preceding April 1st, July ls`, and <br />October 1". <br />5. Within 30 days of receipt of Pire State Aid from the State of Minnesota, the City <br />shall remit that same amount to the Little Canada Volunteer Fire Relief Association together <br />with the required contribution on the schedule form for lump sum pension plans or $15,000; <br />whichever is greater. <br />6. The Fire Department shall furnish the City by April 30, 2012 an accurate <br />accounting of 2011 actual operating expenses. The Fire Department shall submit a proposed <br />operating budget for 2013 to the City by August 201i, 2012. It is understood that this amount <br />will be reviewed as part of the City's budget process. This review will result in the final contract <br />amount for 2013. <br />1 <br />2 <br />
