12/27/11
Dear, Planning Commission, City Council
I am applying for a variance to store a wood pile in my front yard and to park operational
recreational trailers (ex. Boat and utility trailers) also in the front yard at 298 Rose Lane.
There has been a wood pile on this property for over 30 years in the same location. The
main reason the wood pile has been stored in the front yard is because of the slope of the
property to the rear yard. I had Frattalone Company out to survey the slope to the rear
yard and their findings were, the west side of the property has a 15% slope to the rear
yard and the east side of the property has a 13% slope. The wood pile that I store in the
front yard is for the heating of my house during cooler months of the year. Due to the
uniqueness of the property at 298 Rose Lane and being very private in nature the wood
pile would be less visible to the neighbors in the front yard than in the rear yard of the
property. With regards to the trailers in the front yard they too are less visible to the
neighbors being stored in the front yard backed up to the wood pile and the tree line than
in my driveway. Due to the slope of the driveway, parking these trailers on the slope is
difficult and less safe for my three children and their friends that come over. Parking the
trailers backed up to the wood pile and the tree line would make the property more
attractive and less cluttered in the driveway for the two neighbors that can see my
driveway. It will also make it easier and safer for me to access these trailers when they
are needed.
Sincerely,
erek Anderson
14
