MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 9, 2006
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Allan.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
PARKING , The City Administrator reviewed the Public Works Superintendent's
ORDNANCE report relative to proposed amendments to the City's Parking Ordinance.
The first change would clarify that only licensed, operable motor vehicles
are allowed to be parked on- street at the times on street parking is allowed.
The Administrator noted that the City has had instances where trailered
boats, for example, were parked on the street. This amendment limits on
street parking to licensed, operable motor vehicles.
The Administrator noted that the second amendment puts in place the
winter parking ban the Council established which prohibits on- street
parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. from November ls` through April 1St. The
Administrator noted that the parking restrictions relative to 2 inch or
greater snowfalls would stay in place.
Blesener suggested that the Council consider a requirement limiting the
number of hours that vehicles can be parked on street. It was noted that
other cities require vehicles to be moved every 24 to 72 hours. Keis
suggested that any other parking issues be addressed as well.
The City Administrator indicated that staff would report to the Council on
the hour restriction that other cities have in place as well as comment on
any other issues related to the parking ordinance at the next meeting.
Mr. Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2006 -8 -184 — TABLING ACTION ON THE
PROPOSED PARKING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS UNTIL THE
AUGUST 23, 2006 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING PENDING
ADDITIONAL STAFF COMMENTS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0).
