City of Little Canada, Minnesota <br />Ordinance <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 903.050 OF THE LITTLE CANADA CITY <br />CODE, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE, BY ESTABLISHING SURFACING <br />REQUIREMENTS FOR DRIVEWAYS AND PARKING AREAS. <br />The City Council of the City of Little Canada hereby ordains: <br />Section 1. <br />Section 903.050.D.8.k. is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />k. Surfacing. <br />All parking area plans shall be submitted to the city and are subject to the review <br />and approval of the Building Official. The Building Official may refer the plans to other <br />City staff for review. <br />i. Driveway construction requires a permit, as established by Chapter 821 of the <br />Little Canada City Code. <br />ii. All areas intended to be utilized for parking space accessory to commercial, <br />industrial, and attached housing, including associated driveways, shall be paved with <br />asphalt, bituminous, modular pavers, or concrete to control dust and drainage. Other <br />paving materials may be approved by the City Council. <br />iv. For construction of new single family homes (including reconstruction of any <br />home in which estimated construction cost is equal to, or greater than, the assessed <br />valuation of the existing building) in all R -1 and R -2 districts, areas intended to be used <br />for vehicle parking spaces and driveways shall comply with the paving requirement in <br />paragraph k. iii. of this Section. <br />v. Paving of any existing unpaved driveway shall be required at the time of <br />construction of a new garage with access to the public street. <br />vi. Paving of any existing unpaved driveway shall be required at the time of any <br />driveway construction or reconstruction subject to the permitting regulations of this <br />Section. <br />vii. Parking areas and driveways for existing garages and /or homes shall in all cases <br />be surfaced with a material suitable to control dust and drainage, minimizing erosion or <br />siltation in the public street and /or stormwater system. A covering permitting growth of <br />grass or weeds in the R -1 or R -2 districts does not constitute an acceptable surfacing <br />material. <br />Section 2. <br />This Ordinal. II take effect and he in full force from and after its passage and publication. <br />
